Whether recovering from joint replacement surgery, rehabilitating a sports related injury or dealing with acute or chronic back, neck or other joint pain, our therapists are expertly trained to evaluate each patient’s condition and provide the necessary therapy to optimize healing. We utilize specific manual therapy techniques, therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation and specialized exercise prescription to speed recovery and allow our patients to return to normal activities as soon as possible.
The Vestibular System includes our eyes, ears, and joint receptors working in coordination with our brain to tell us where we are in space. When this system is compromised you can experience poor balance, dizziness and vertigo. There can be different mechanisms for these disorders of disequilibrium, and it is important to see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Our vestibular rehabilitation therapists are specially trained to evaluate the cause of each individual’s symptoms and provide the specific type of manual therapy and vestibular rehabilitative exercises to bring the world back into balance.
The changes that a woman’s body undergoes throughout her life can lead to unique concerns that are difficult to discuss and address. Our Women’s Health certified therapists have advanced training in understanding, evaluating and treating conditions such as urinary incontinence and prolapsed reproductive organs. We sensitively evaluate each patient’s unique situation and provide specialized manual therapy techniques and exercise prescription to achieve optimal results and allow for function to return to normal.
When rehab is completed and you are ready to get back into a program of
regular exercise, it can be hard to know where to begin while avoiding injury. Personal training sessions at Gateway are intended to help you begin the next phase of your progress. We emphasize education and instruction for safe and effective strength conditioning, joint mobility and stabilization, postural correction and balance, in order to help avoid further injury or pain while on the path to improved fitness.
Sessions are 30 or 60 minutes. Sixty minutes is recommended for an initial
consultation. Please inquire at the front desk for appointments and
associated fees.
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's, this famous physical conditioning system was specially designed to strengthen and stretch the entire physique through mat based exercises. The original piece of apparatus, The Trapeze Table, was designed during World War I to aid injured soldiers in regaining strength and function. Exercises done on the mat and apparatus, the Reformer, Cadillac or Trapeze Table and Stability Chair, develop the body uniformly and emphasize a well balanced workout and an integrated body. A Pilates session combines matwork with various pieces of apparatus and uses one-on-one attention to hone core control, strength and proper breathing techniques for an in-depth, personalized experience. Everyone from athletes, dancers and individuals with chronic pain or specific limitations can benefit from expert instruction in the Pilates method. Experience the benefits of the Pilates Method. It is customized to your body and individual needs. Pilates reshapes and aligns the musculo-skeletal system, builds core strength, increases flexibility, improves posture and coordination and promotes a healthy, focused mind.
Multiple body systems are utilized to help control balance in the human body. Balance can be improved at any age with the appropriate exercise. Falls, which are linked to declining health and fractures, can also be reduced or prevented with proper training and exercise designed by a physical therapist. Staff at Gateway have extensive experience in these areas and have helped countless patients improve their balance and prevent future falls.
